Russian orthodox dating maintain friendships while dating
Russian men conventionally have seen themselves as superior to women.Historically in Russian families, women were expected to serve their men, take care of the children, and perform all household chores. My question, is there any place where Orthodox Christians can meet up with others of the opposite sex?
Being seen on a date with another Orthodox Christian in a church setting implies instant engagement. As a result, dating someone from church has become the least attractive option. Besides the OCF Winter Conferences or the mission teams with OCMC and IOCC, I don’t know of another national, pan-Orthodox event for young adults to meet. It's really too bad that there isn't even some sort of short-term "bibleschool/college" like other faiths have, where young people can study and meet one another.I know ROCOR has annual youth conferences/syezds where people go to meet one another, but I don't know what other groups do.For most of history and in a large but shrinking portion of the Orthodox world today, single people did not have to worry about who they would marry: someone else chose for them. We cannot imagine not choosing our own hair style, clothing and career path; much less not choosing our own spouse.
